Combination Therapy in Skin Care –
High Resolution Evaluation on Results

Background:
Numerous skincare regimens present themselves to patients. Many are anecdotal and lacking in science. Many are backed by high marketing dollars, and patients buy based upon this over-factual knowledge. A unique combination therapy featuring a simple (3) three part Régenique therapeutic regimen was studied combining Microdermabrasion and Ultrasonic/Electrical stimulation using pharmaceutical grade skin care and a medical grade silicone mask for use in a medically based practice.

Objectives:
The purpose of this study is to compare the Régenique Medical Skin Rejuvenation System to a control.

Materials and Methods:
Twenty-five patients were chosen to utilize the system on one-half of their faces compared to a carrier medium on the opposite side. High-resolution ultrasonic EPISCAN examination was performed at the start, three-month and six-month of treatment. Histologic 3.0-millemeter biopsies were performed concurrently to compare therapeutic and control sides and also to see if a correlation could be made to the ultrasonic results.

Results:
Eighty-seven percent of patients utilizing the Régenique System showed ultrasonic correlation of compacted neocollagen and increased organization in the reticular dermis. This was verified by histology. Fitzpatrick; severity scores were improved in seventy-six percent of cases. Histologic examination verified these results by showing increases in procollagen and increases in the numbers of activated fibroblasts. Ultrasonic and histologic correlates were also established.

Conclusion:
The Régenique (3) three Step Process offers a scientific basis for tone improvement, wrinkle reduction and results which exceed even other more expensive non-invasive treatments, which can be verified by high-resolution ultrasonic examinations and histological correlation.

The following images were taken with an Episcan, a 24 MHz digital dermal scanner, to a depth of 7mm of the skin of a 42-year old female patient with aging skin at each step of the Régenique process. The scans document the visible changes in the dermis following each Régenique step, and clearly illustrate that the Régenique process produces new collagen and fibroblasts as well as increased density.
